How to check available memory on Android

How can I check the amount of free memory on my Android device?

On Android smartphones and tablets you can store documents, contacts, photos and applications both on the internal memory and on a micro-SD card. To verify the available space for storage, please follow these steps:
  1. Open the Applications tab and tap Settings.
  2. Tap SD Card & phone storage to display the available space for both the SD card and the internal phone storage.

  3. Tap All to show the installed applications and the amount of memory they occupy.
